English Defence League

According to its members, the English Defence League are a nationalist, non racist organisation who object to what they see as the ‘Islamification’ of both the UK and wider western society.

From their first major TV appearance, ski-masked and flag burning on BBC’s Newsnight to being escorted away from the parliamentary leaders debate in Bristol, the EDL have carved a path of controversy throughout the country. Succeeding wherever they surface in prompting angry counter-demonstrations by groups allied under the common banner of Unite Against Fascism.
